What Is MontereyCo.Recovers.org?

MontereyCo.Recovers.org serves as Monterey County’s centralized online platform for disaster resilience and recovery. Originally launched in 2012 by Supporting Resilient Communities (SRC), it enables community members, nonprofits, and agencies to request help, offer volunteer support, and donate during emergencies.

In 2024, CERV in collaboration with United Way Monterey County and the Community Foundation for Monterey County relaunched the site with enhanced features, including multilingual support, improved accessibility, and deeper integration with COAD, Monterey’s Community Organizations Active in Disaster.

How the Platform Strengthens Community Resilience

  • All-in-One Resource Hub
MontereyCo.Recovers.org allows residents to flag needs, volunteers to self-register, and donors to contribute—all through an intuitive and trusted interface.

  • COAD Integration and Collaboration
In 2024, Monterey County launched its COAD—a collaboration of 23 nonprofit, faith-based, and government agencies. COAD members now use MontereyCo.Recovers.org for sharing real-time resource requests and coordinating response strategies.

  • Operational Dashboard & Outreach
Recovers.org maintains a live resource map for homelessness, shelters, wildfire threats, and evacuation zones. The platform also hosts tabletop trainings and community engagement—CERV organized a training on Oct 25, 2024, for local nonprofits to use the platform effectively.

Impact and Achievements

  • Relaunch of Recovers Hub with enhanced multilingual and accessible design.

  • Activation of Monterey County’s COAD coalition across 23 organizations using the platform.

  • Support during disasters, including the 2018 Soberanes Fire—demonstrating the platform’s real-world effectiveness.

  • Available tools include a live resource map, portal for help, volunteer, and donation requests, and community updates like flood preparedness and wildfire alerts.
